You will work with a small team of computer programmers to produce innovate, bespoke software solutions both directly and indirectly related to text messaging, reporting directly to the Technical Director. Activities will include: •Production of specifications •Direction of coding team •Setting of goals and deadlines •Monitoring of the development process •Advanced programming, including the creation of complex code/algorithms •Testing and signing-off on code and systems As part of the role you will need to effectively manage and organise your team, as well as dealing with recruitment, training, reviews, and disciplinary action. Successful applicants will have both technical and managerial experience, having thrived in both areas for a number of years. A thorough understanding of computing and the Internet, as well as a diverse knowledge of programming languages including Perl and Java is essential. Secure programming (particularly for web applications) and achieving efficiency through design are fundamental concepts that should already be well practiced. Knowledge of Linux or Unix systems is required and Apple Mac experience would be useful.
